The author deals with the issue concerning the conferment of various grants – including the Roman citizenship, and also the right of legal marriage with foreign women, immunity from taxation for ten years, new settlers, the right to the property of citizens killed in the war – by the Emperor Claudius in favor of the inhabitants of Volubilis in Mauretania through the analysis of three well-known inscriptions which record these benefits which the community have gained from Claudius: namely, IAMLat 369, 370a, 448.
